In April I had cause to visit my GP with a shoulder problem and was promptly referred to this service. An initial appointment with the consultant physiotherapist at my local health centre came through very quickly and the treatment I needed was discussed. Further appointments were given to me and I was then referred for an X-ray. Following on from the X-ray a further follow up appointment was made to discuss my case. A referral was made for a steroid injection and then 6 sessions of physio therapy at the Shoulder class held on a Wednesday morning at Chalfont and Gerrards Cross hospital. These appointments were set up easily over the phone. However, since that time I have received numerous calls to cancel the appointments as there is no physiotherapist available to run the class. Luckily I was able to be slotted into 2 Friday morning shoulder classes and have now ended up with only 3 sessions instead of the 6 I was referred for. Quite honestly, the sessions themselves are a waste of time. There are approximately 12 people in the class each with different needs and shoulder problems yet all completing the same exercises, the physiotherapist comes no where near you to check that you are completing the exercises properly and there are no exercises provided for you to do at home. You simply walk in, go to an exercise station, work round each station while the physiotherapist stands with a stop watch timing the length of time you are at each station. As a result I have now referred myself for private physiotherapy to a person I have worked with before on other issues. Having described some of the exercises which we have been doing in the shoulder class to this person I have been advised that I should not be doing some of the exercises as they could do more harm than good. Hopefully I will not have cause to be referred to musIC again as I have no faith in the physiotherpay provided whatsoever.
"Very poor service from MusIC"
