I've generally been pleased with the service at Birley Health Centre - in my experience the waiting times can be lengthy, but the GP care is excellent.

However, I have been feeling very let down recently after requesting counselling, only to be told that there is a 3 month wait. This isn't much help when you are at crisis point. I'm lucky enough to have the support of family and friends, but I worry about people who don't have this. It's the first time I really needed this sort of support, and yet nothing, I'm gobsmacked.

Thank you for your feedback. Firstly apologises for the time i have taken to reply but wanted to discuss this with the counsellers. I am happy to hear you are satisfied with the surgery and gp care and hope this continues.

I have spoken to the counselling team who have said the following:

They are sorry you feel let down and not happy that anyone has to wait longer than 28 days to see them, they are working hard to reduce the waiting list. They also wanted people to know that counselling isnt a crisis management service but a talking treatment, there are other alternatives when a situation is urgent or at crisis point.
