After being on the waitlist for almost a year, I was nervous about having my first major operation. The surgeon and anaesthetist discussed my options with me. On arriving at the room where the anaesthetic was applied I became tearful. The staff were kind and put me at ease. I had a spinal, half general and sedation as I did not want to have any recollection of the op. After waking in the aftercare room, was taken to Boddington Ward. The staff here are exceptional, they work tirelessly on twelve hour shifts, nothing is too much trouble and the aftercare was meticulous. From the surgeon to ward helpers, they are friendly and committed to helping their patients. I walked a few steps with a zimmer frame, just a few hours after the operation. The ward was clean, bright and optimistic.
My only comment is that the daily menu should be printed out so patients can see the full choice of what food is available.
Thank you Orpington Orthopaedics.
