A member of my family had taken an overdose, and after waiting in a police car as there was noone to process her she waited a total of 12 hours to be assessed by a Dr. She was desperate to be seen and come home, She was kept locked in a room with a floor mat. I rang several times asking when she would be seen. I spoke to soemone and they seemed to think that she wouldnt be discharged without some kind of support in the community. At 1130pm I got a call to come and collect her. No follow up care at all. I am appalled. How can a mental health hospital think that a 12 hour wait to see a person in crisis is acceptable and with no ongoing support whatsoever?! I was told that it was because she has problems with drinking- so are Goodmayes saying they will only support teetotals?! My family member is extremely traumatised having to wait so long and this experience has not helped her recovery. I urge everyone who is not happy to complain to the CQC as I have. Anyone who has mental health problems quite frankly deserves better.
"12 hour wait to see a Dr-totally unacceptable!"
