An angiogram was requested by the cardiac department.
I was telephoned and asked if I could attend on a Saturday and come 8 days before for a pre-assessment. I said I could and was quite happy with the arrangements.
I turned up and my blood pressure was taken. I then asked how tablets could be given to slow my heart ( which I knew from another patient) as I had a pacemaker.
OH.
The team had not been told I have a pacemaker.
It could not be done on the Saturday as I needed to have my pacemaker slowed/stopped and then have the scan. Then I had to have pacemaker restarted/ turned up.
They would contact me with a new date. However instead of having the blood test today I have to wait till 10 days before the date for new scan.
In view of the timescale it may well be that the Saturday slot is wasted.
It was sheer inefficiency that the information was not given at the time the scan was requested. At a time of intense money and time problems this is inexcusable.
"lack of communication between departments."
