My husband who is 72 had a stroke in the middle of August, this was his first experience of being in hospital. He was taken to Stoke University hospital, where he was treated well and had an operation to clear the artery in his neck which had caused the stroke. The stroke had caused him to lose the use of his right arm and leg.He was at Stoke for ten days and while there he worried about my travelling back and forward (we live in a small village outside Rugeley) which hindered his recovery. On speaking to his consultant he was transferred to County hospital, Stafford to continue his recovery and have physiotherapy. The care and physio he received at County hospital was exceptional, especially the physio. Within ten days he was able to walk again on a zimmer frame with only one person at his back for his own security, and able to climb a few stairs, again with just one person at his back. We cannot thank the physio department at County hospital Stafford enough for all the help they gave him
