"No problem obtaining an appointment"

About: Birley Health Centre

(as the patient),

When I wrote my last story in which I detailed that I had an appointment with a gp on three consecutive days, to which Birley Health Centre responded. I would point out that the appointments were made as they were urgent and I needed to be seen on the same day. As I felt so ill if I could not have got the appointments I would have had to request a home visit. From my point of view I want to make it clear that there has never been a problem in obtaining a gp appointment if the patient does not mind which doctor they see. If an urgent appointment is needed then clearly you have to see which doctors are available.

Under normal cirumstances I still stick with what I believe as do others and what has been documented; it is much better for a patient to see the same doctor in order to build up a good patient doctor relationship that comes from seeing the same doctor especially in the older patient who has chronic long-term problems that demand the continuing involvement of a doctor with knowledge of the patient, and an ability to understand the total context of a patient and their life and circumstances. This can only be gained by seeing the same doctor.

thank you for taking the time to put on another response, it is good to see the same doctor whenever possible as people do like to do this but sometimes it isnt possible if you want to see a gp the same day. Glad that you got the medical attention you needed when you needed it

I think we are just going round in circles with my comments and someone from Birley Health Centre who has responded to my messages who clearly does not read them properly and just keeps reiterating what I have said.

For the last time just to make it clear. From my point of view there has never been a problem getting an appointment if you don't mind what Dr you see. Can we please now put this to bed as it is getting rather tiring going over the same things and I for one does not have the time.
