My mum is and 82 year old with Parkinson's disease, she cannot mobilize without special shoes and a leg brace prepared by the Orthotic Department at Gartnavel General Hospital Glasgow.
My mum needed new shoes and a brace, to date this has been delayed for 8 months for various reasons, recently she attended the clinic only to discover staff had entered the wrong shoe size, another delay, she was upset and her mood became low now, she has now received a letter stating her next appointment for October has been cancelled and the next one will be December, she cannot wait until December to walk properly again!!!! what do we do? can we pay to have shoes made privately ?she has fallen twice as her foot turns over in her old shoes, she has bruises to her hip and head (she landed on the fireplace) but thank god no breaks.
NHS pledge "to cause no harm" too late !!!
"Supposed to be patient focused care"
