"Rapid, reassuring response"

About: General practices in Lothian

(as a parent/guardian),

My little girl poured hot coffee over herself in the morning rush. After I applied cold running water she was not blistered at all so I was unsure whether a trip to A& E was necessary, but needed her checked over by someone. I phoned our GP practice, Lauderdale medical practice, and the receptionist was very helpful and got us an appointment within 45 minutes. In fact the doctor squeezed us in between appointments so we were waiting less than ten minutes once we got to the surgery. He was very reassuring and my daughter is fine, without needing a long trip up to the sick kids and taking up valuable space in A& E. Of course had the scald been worse I'd have gone straight to hospital, but in this case the response from our local surgery was exactly what was needed.

Thank you very much for your feedback via Care Opinion and I was so sorry to read about your daughter's scold with hot coffee, this must have been a very upsetting and anxious time.

I was so pleased to hear that you were able to speak to the receptionist at Lauderdale Medical Practice who was able to arrange for an appointment to see a GP so quickly. I was also pleased to read how reassuring they were confirming that after the checkover from the GP your daughter did not need to attend RHSC.

I have shared your feedback with the Practice and l am sure they will be delighted with your kind words.
