"Badly run practice"

There are so many failings with this practice. The receptionists are uncaring, miserable and incompetent, they really are very unhelpful and sometimes down right rude. Booking an appointment with a doctor is not a straight forward process, you ring up only to be told there are no appointments left, that it is book on the day and told to ring back next day at 8 am, but try getting through at 8 am and you'll more often than not be unsuccessful, you have to persevere and wait on the phone to eventually get through and be told yet again that all appointments are gone and try again next day. When you're lucky enough to get an appointment, the experience is far from pleasant, there is no privacy in the waiting room (reception should be seperate to waiting room to give patients a degree of provacy when talking at the desk) and the tannoy system they use is not clear leaving you struggling to hear when your name is called. There are signs telling you you are only allowed to mention one issue/symptom to the doctor during an appointment, now I appreciate doctors are busy but several symptoms could be related and if patients are frightened to mention too much during an appointment then there's a very real risk of being misdiagnosed, it just leaves you feeling like a nuisance like you shouldn't be there that they don't really care and want you in and out quickly. I've had a few occassions where I've been given prescription requests from nurses at the treatment rooms (either the nurse has faxed it over to the medical centre or I've dropped it in) and every time I've had to chase it up, this is where I consider the receptionists incompetent as they usually say there is nothing showing on the system, go off to look and come back to say they've found the request and will put it through to the doctor (clearly they failed to do so when the request was initially recieved). The online facilities are not great, I've never been successful booking an appointment online, and there is no means of adding notes when requesting repeat medication. The doctors to their credit are very good, thorough and understanding, they are just let down by the bad running of the medical centre, by bad management and a bad reception team.
