"Gall Bladder removal"

About: Torbay Hospital / Accident and emergency

I have had recurring gall bladder problems. On Friday evening (31/8/2018) I called for assistance and an ambulance arrived to attend to me.

I had chest pains probably related to the gall bladder.

It did not take the ambulance long to arrive and the Paramedics who attended to me were extremely efficient, experienced and confident.

I knew I was in good hands.

On our arrival at the Emergency unit the staff were also very efficient and attended to me with the same expertise.

The duty surgeon thought there might be a possibility of removing my Gall bladder over the weekend and promised got call me the following morning to let me know what the position was. This he did and unfortunately there were no opening, but he was true to his word.

He said he would call on Monday to let me know what was going on. So on Monday morning I got a call from the AMU and there was an opportunity for an operation if I wanted the slot which I accepted.

I travelled through to the AMU and met one particular surgeon who, after discussions said he could do the operation on Tuesday.

Well, that was a shock but in I went, following all the instructions not to eat etc.

On arrival at DSU (I know these medical terms now!) I was attended to by extremely welcoming and efficient staff.

I then met the anaesthetist, another confident welcoming man.

Off I went into the theatre and that is all I remember.

In the recovery ward the staff were absolutely amazing and could not do enough to make sure I was comfortable and well looked after.

I am at home now recovering and the Sister has just phone to see how I am doing.

At the moment, I am fine and recovering.

I wanted to thank all the staff and hour hospital for such a good job done.

I have had similar experiences at Torbay Hospital and they have all been the same.

I appreciate the work you are all doing and thank you.
