"Well done ward 9, you are so appreciated"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as a relative),

Ward 9 Nurse’s, Medical Staff and clinical support staff looked after my dear Aunt in the last week of her life. She passed away early this September.

She was afforded the privacy of an available side room in the last 5 days of her life. A therapeutic mattress was used and her symptoms were well managed. She was very peaceful when I last saw her. The ward was accessible late on the Friday night for us to say our goodbyes. The staff provided hot drinks which was very welcome and much needed. The staff looked after my family which is so important. Well done ward 9, Hairmyres. The peaceful death achieved for my Aunt is so appreciated.

Dear baxi

How kind of you to write to us at such a difficult time and share your recent experience. I would like to offer my condolences to you and your family.

I have shared your comments with the staff of ward 9 and they are pleased to hear that you and your family felt that your Aunt had a peaceful death. It is important that you and your family had privacy and felt looked after at such a distressing time. Feedback is always important to us and it is reassuring to know that your Aunt received appropriate care during the last week of her life.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments.

Kind regards

Lise
