Received a discharge letter today with an explanation which was factually incorrect, full of half truths and also lies.
Why was this?
I suspect that my ability to demand my rights despite current mental health challenges has placed this service on the defensive.
How wrong is this service that it seeks to punish those who care about quality treatment and care for themselves and others in the community.
I have been referred to Outlook South West; an IAPT service which offers time limited interventions.
These are not suitable for those patients who cluster higher and whose needs are more likely to be met with longer term psychological input. Exposure to IAPT can lead to very damaging outcomes for patients not suitable for this 'light touch' approach.
The impact of this move is yet to be experienced but as a patient who has many years working experience in both IAPT and higher tier services I am not confident.
In fact I am very frightened for myself as I am hanging by a fine thread.
This ICMHT needs scrutinising by CQC and Public Health England.
It requires special measures to ensure the service is fit for purpose and accountable for its poor performance and dangerously arrogant approach to the current hardships faced by all health care services.
My GP will now have to bear the responsibility for this decision as will the primary care services if things deteriorate with my mental health.
This is a very sad day for me and those professionals working really hard to make a difference in other areas of the country.
"More shameful experiences of Liskeard ICMHT"
