As a local resident and Grandfather who has regarded this as his local hospital for the past 20 years I think its about time I praised the Hospital and the staff following a personal visit to minor injuries to 'fix me' following a gardening accident, (too embarrassing to mention).
From the time I walked through the door, the helpful receptionist, through to the triage nurse and finally the senior nurse practitioner I was treated with the upmost dignity, respect and kindness which surpassed all my expectations (if I were to believe all that is written about the NHS). At each stage the staff explained what they were doing, what would happen next, a lot of thought was put into how I would have my injury treated with various tests to ensure I was safe to return home, and finally how I should treat my injury, I was very impressed with the skill of the staff and the first class treatment I received.
I do not recall seeing a minor injuries unit the last time I visited, this is a big improvement to the service in terms of wait times and speed of treatment.
On this occasion it was my turn to be a recipient of the service, for the past 20 years the Royal County Hospital has provided to my family various outpatient clinics, minor operations, numerous visits to A & E, time to say a big thank you for the excellent service you have provided to my family and the community.
