"A high level of patient care with a sense of humour too"

About: Victoria Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

Ward 44 - Day 21 - Overall Opinion - EXCELLENT...

I experienced everything from hallucinations, paralysis, cellulitis, sickness and diarrhoea, two ten minute back to back seizures and the extreme muscle pain they leave you with, and the inability to stand or walk for the three weeks running ... to feeling alert, full of nonsense and feeling back to my self again... mentally, if not physically.

Upside - ALL without exception on ward 44 played their part in making my stay as comfortable as possible. Respecting my fierce independence yet seeing my obvious weaknesses right now, Diane, Rose-Marie and Margaret are particularly fastidious with personal care needs - Leeanne, Jojo, Mandy, Gina, Debbie, Cassie, Fiona, Katrina and many more provide a high level of patient care with a sense of humour too, Which I believe is essential for good health.

Domestic-Alex has cleaned my room most days. He is fastidious and has an open and friendly manner. He is a pleasure to chat to.

Downside. I don't think neither doctors or nurses were given enough support which must be extremely frustrating for them. Firstly E.N.T. “We will not see them until the acute symptoms last at least 7 to 10 days”. ??

Neurology - I had been assured a visit. Seizures were unlikely to have happened if neurology had spoken to me directly. 32 years seizure free until that day. I have a very complex medical history so know my own body.

No arrogance intended!
