I have had excellent care under Dermatology whilst they have relentlessly tried to understand my condition and offer solutions. I have only experienced kindness and care from all the staff involved and on my recent visit was very impressed by the ease and swiftness of the new electronic check in system.
There were just two small areas for improvement. Whilst waiting outside the clinic room as instructed I was asked who I was here to see. I had not been given a doctor's name, just an appointment time and the electronic system had just told me to wait outside a room number. Not knowing the answer to a simple question made me feel ignorant and like I was wasting their time. Just changing the question and saying: 'Can I take your name just to check we've got you on our list and you're in the right place' would have made me feel much more respected.
Secondly, the discharge letter that was sent after my appointment was written to my GP and referred to me in the third person. Again I would have felt a lot more respected if the letter were written directly to me and copied in my GP - such a small change could make a huge difference to future patients.
Thanks again for your care and kindness - I hope these small suggestions are of use.
