"Apart from the wait in A&E, I think I was well looked after"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

After my sudden heart attack at work, I went to A&E at the RAH. Unfortunately I had to wait for 50 mins to been seen by triage. As I had a lot of chest pain, I again visited the desk to ask to be seen as I seemed to have been forgotten about. People with lesser injuries had came in after me and taken before me. After waiting 50 mins, my name was called. Within 2 mins the doctor said my blood pressure was so high that I was possibly having a stroke or heart attack. Only then, I felt I was getting the treatment I needed.

The care I received in Coronary care was excellent. The aftercare rehab facility was fantastic and now I'm able to go back to work.

Apart from the wait in A&E, I think I was well looked after and appreciate the hard working staff involved in my recover period, which includes the doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapy staff. Many thanks.

Dear Killearn,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience after your recent admission to the RAH. I was sorry to learn that you waited in pain for a prolonged period of time before triaged and assessed in the Emergency Department. This is certainly not what we strive as a unit to achieve and I will share your experience with the department. At times, due to demand on the site, and despite our best efforts, our waiting times are in excess of where we would like them to be and for that I apologise,

I was reassured to learn that your care thereafter was of a high standard. It is always rewarding for staff to receive this feedback and I will ensure the staff in CCU and cardiac rehab are made aware of your praise.

I am pleased to read you are now home and well on the way to recovery. Many thanks again. Your feedback is appreciated.

Best wishes

Jacqueline
