"Rheumatology appointment"

Diagnosed with RA by a Registrar 2 years ago.Have been seeing different registrars every 6 months but have never met my Consultant.My long anticipated 6 monthly appt was a disappointment .Another registrar who checked my blood test results.Never checked my feet or joints.In fact neither did the previous registrar.My bloods were ok so he just told me to take painkillers when in pain and see you in 6 months.I know it’s just a job for them.They finish work and do the normal things you do in life .However Lupus/RA/fibromyalgia sufferers rely on these doctors to help them and give them some hope.I must say the Rheumy Nurses are an exception they are caring and more helpful.You can also ask them questions which they will endeavour to answer.However they are very difficult to see as they are always fully booked.It is also difficult to contact them by telephone.The receptionists are very good.

I know that if I went private I would be seen when necessary and would probably be checked out more thoroughly with X-rays and checks and recommendations re controlling the condition.Unfortunately I have no medical insurance.So now I have to go to my local GP who is no expert in RA.She does her best and suggests I ring the RA nurses which I will try and do next week.
