"Seeking answers to our questions"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Respiratory Medicine

(as a friend),

My partner of 35 years died of pneumonia after only two days in hospital and I watched it happen, she had stage 4 COPD so any infection to the chest was a likely killer. Yet their are so many inconsistencies in the reason or cause of death and even on the Death Certificate, yet I feel NHS Lothian offer little support for family and loved ones if they have questions.

Even emails to the now called Patient Experience Team go unacknowledged and it is necessary to then call the PET to find out if they have received the emails.

Anyway I have emailed PET to see where the family can get the answers to our questions?

Dear Mr Fraggle,

At the outset please can l say how sorry l was to hear about the death of your partner, please accept my condolences to you and your family.

I read that you have already contacted the Patient Experience Team and hope that we can help you and your family get the answers to the questions that you are looking for.

I was sorry to read that you did not receive an automated response to your email as this should have happened as we do have an automated message set up. I have checked with IT Team and this message is still in place and can only apologise to you that you did not receive this.

Once again please accept my condolences.

Kind regards

Jeannette

Update posted by MrFraggle (a friend)

Good morning Jannette,

I am just about to call PET as I have sent two questions via email and have still not received an acknowledgement. PET admitted last week that there are issues, why it is taking the IT department so long to resolve them is puzzling.

Dear Mr Fraggle,

Sorry to hear about your recent experience. I will wait to hear from the Patient Experience Team regarding your concerns. We will then be in contact to see what the respiratory team and I can do to support you and to answer any questions.

Kind regards

Gordon
