"The way to an insulin pump in an NHS hospital, London 2011"

About: Chelsea & Westminster Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

It was painfully difficult to finally receive an insulin pump, even though I met the NICE guidelines many years ago. I felt there were attempts by two staff members to derail / prolong the application for a pump and I cannot blame them for this because I feel sorry for the staff in that diabetes clinic. I feel that they are likely to be told off by their management team for giving insulin pumps to diabetic patients, given the treatment costs too much. Sometimes I simply wonder why do I pay taxes and National Insurance.

What's Good - They do have some genuinely humane and caring staff

How Did You Feel - Positive and trusting in the beginning, defensive by the end
