"Our maternity experience at St Mary's"

About: St Mary's Hospital / Maternity care

(as a relative),

My wife gave birth to a healthy baby recently but we found the whole experience at St Marys was a nightmare.

Our first child, we felt no compassion at all, her waters broke early hours although hadn't started contractions yet. Was put into the induction ward a couple of days later.

Took hours to be seen. As we were from Salford and Salford Royal Maternity had closed a couple of days before, all we kept hearing was this is Salford's fault.

We found one particular midwife very rude (no compassion whatsoever) even up to the day we were finally taken to an actual labour ward at the vary last minute when my wife was 10cm dilated. Even though we requested (due to wifes SPD problems) an epidural, she said she couldn't give it. Later an epidural team arrived but we thought it was a shambles...they couldn't find anything and then it was too late.

During the pushing stage there was a midwife shift change and we were hearing things like "I wouldn't bother pressing emergency button because nobody comes anyway".

The whole experience was a nightmare... (apart from our precious baby being born).
