"Frustrating experience where they follow their..."

About: Grand Drive Surgery

I have tried registering at this practice a couple of times before and each time I am told they need proof of address and forms of ID that I am unable to provide.

It is not fair that I am asked to provide details of my rental agreement and private bank statements with personal information on. This in itself is breaking the NHS rules on registering patients and also breaks the GDPR rules - that data should be appropriate and not excessive. I cannot see any reason why my doctors need to know how much money is in my bank account or the financial arrangements I have to pay for my accommodation.

It's frustrating because I have tried registering and then called them to discuss it but they do not listen or change their ways. I wouldn't have published this review unless I had given them several opportunities to rectify their incorrect policy. But as they have decided to take rules into their own hands rather than follow the NHS and BMA rules, I feel like leaving a negative review to share this frustrating experience is fully justified.

Having lived in different areas of the country and experienced several GP surgeries over the last 25years, I feel I have had reasonable experience of different systems from a variety of different practices, to determine that Grand Drive's attitude towards new patients is somewhat lacking.

Writing this review is a last resort, so I hope my frustrating experience and wasted time trying to register will lead to a better service for new patients in the future.

I'm sorry you've had difficulties in registering at our Practice but I am very surprised and somewhat puzzled by your comments as asking for financial details or any other personal details is not in line with our registration policy. We do ask if the person is resident in our area and for how long as this dictates whether the person is registered as a temporary or permanent patient. Could you please ring me on my direct line below so we can sort out what's gone wrong here and hopefully put it right.
