"Conflicting and confusing appointments"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dermatology (Skin Conditions)

(as the patient),

I was recently seen by a Locum Consultant, one of many I have seen in the last couple of years. I feel that this in itself leads to confusion as each new  locum has a different opinion and as a long standing patient leads to conflicting and confusing appointments and different treatment plans and diagnosis. Which does not result in continuity of care.

The last Locum completely changed my diagnosis which I have had for years and then when challenged on it at the next appointment changed it back again somewhat reluctantly. When challenged to provide an explanation said that usually my condition is a misdiagnosis.

I then had to explain Id been diagnosed based on multiple appointments and tests and had in fact been seen by many other specialists.

The doctor then most worrying of all despite the fact their were scales in the room guessed my weight and went on to work out a drug dose based on the guess.

I feel very strongly that when a patient dares to question anything they are then perceived to be a difficult patient when in fact if not able to stand up for themselves would have had a detrimental effect on their condition and future treatment.

I today received a letter which has a dose worked out on an estimated weight and will be making sure that this dose is correctly worked out based on an actual weight by the person who will be issuing the drug.
