"Terrible service and attitude from reception..."

About: Rope Green Medical Centre

This review is after numerous issues with this surgery. It's finally at it's peak with the amount of houses/influx of new patients using the surgery, so you just can't be seen.

You can never get an appointment! If you can get through on the phone, the reception staff are usually abrupt and inquire why you need an appointment. They have asked me previously if it's an emergency otherwise they can't give you an appointment, but then try to tell you to go to A&E as it's an emergency.

When my son was refused to be seen after a corneal injury, I asked if they knew of any private GP's and the receptionist seemed perplexed as to why I'd be asking. They should at least be able to provide you with an alternative, even if that means having to pay. I don't feel why my son should have to sit in A&E for hours because the surgery aren't able to provide a basic service.

On previous visits when I have been allowed to see a GP, I either find them extremely helpful and knowledgeable, or condescending and just wanting to get you out ASAP. This surgery is literally pot luck, not something you want when it involves your health.

I am sorry you feel you have been let down by the Practice.

We always try to give an outstanding service to our patients, it's very important to us.

We do instruct our reception staff to enquire what an appointment is for so we can care navigation you to the appropriate person/service.

You are not obliged to divulge any information, but it does help us.

However, we understand if you wish to say it's private and leave it at that.

With regards to recommending a private GP, this is not something we do.

If you contact the Practice with a genuine emergency you will be seen.

Our appointments give patients 10 minute slots and our GP's always try to treat patients with the greatest of care.

I am sorry you feel rushed, this is not something we aim for.

Some days are more hectic than others and on these occasions the GP's do need to stick to the given time otherwise surgeries run over massively and waiting patients then become disgruntled at being kept waiting.

Finally, we are in the final throws of a new telephone system, which should greatly ease the time it takes to get through to us.
