I want to say a huge "Thank you" to all the professionals involved in my hysterectomy last week at the RSCH.
For a start, the consultant and his team gave me utter confidence in their ability to provide me with the best outcome and recovery.
Every single person I came into contact with treated me with respect and made me feel like a human being rather than a medical issue to be treated.
My original operation date was cancelled at the last minute due to demands on theatre needs but I was swiftly rescheduled and it actually gave me a few more days to mentally and physically prepare.
I got a great sense of the partnership between the professionals and patient (me) around creating the best surgical outcomes.
I know they did their very best for me so I owed it to them to try my hardest too.
The anaesthetists did some brilliant questioning and we agreed the best plan for me.
I think they are unsung heroes!
The staff in the Gynae Ward are even more wonderful than the view from the windows - I am sure both contributed to my speedy recovery.
Out the next day and feeling shocked at how well I feel after hearing horror stories from others.
My consultant has worked some real magic on my innards with barely a mark to show.
I could not put a price on all this expertise but I bet it costs a fair bit.
Thank goodness for the NHS and thank you Royal Sussex.
(btw - I hope the staff in the discharge lounge get a better staff room than the cubbyhole by the filing cabinet after the new build!)
