"Day Surgery"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted for a procedure within the Day Surgery Unit at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline. I have an irrational fear of general  anaesthetic.  The nursing staff/doctors where excellent putting me at my ease and making me laugh as the anaesthetic was being administered.  Needless to say, I am so grateful for their empathy and compassion and I dare to say that my irrational fear has gone.

The after care I received was second to none. I just wish that all medical staff outwith the Queen Margaret Hospital had the same to understanding towards a patients fears.

Dear Cleo18

Thanks for taking the time to post on Care Opinion.

It can be a worrying time coming to hospital to have surgery and many people feel apprehensive about having a general anaesthetic.

It sounds like our staff did a great job in making you feel at ease and looking after you throughout your stay with us.

I will pass on your comments to the staff in Queen Margaret theatres and the Day Surgery Unit. I am sure your kind feedback will make their day.

I hope that you are making a good recovery.

Take care

Gill
