"Great Staff, hopeless management"

The operational clinical staff are all superb - dedicated, considerate, efficient and caring. The physical environment is poor - poorly maintained equipment and infrastructure - No hot water has been available for months, hospital merely puts up printed signs saying they are aware of it so do not report it again. However no effort at all is made to repair the problem. Many of the beds do not work - cannot be adjusted and the arms are collapsed - making it very difficult for patients who have to sit for four hours in discomfort and for staff who cannot set the dialysis up at a safe and convenient level for them to work at. The management of the unit is a total disgrace - patients are given a time to arrive for treatment but are routinely kept waiting for up to two hours. This is partly due to the total unreliability of the transport service for bringing patients in - once some patients in the early morning session arrive late it has a proportionate "knock on" effect on the two subsequent shifts. The management of the poor staff is a total disgrace - they are permanently understaffed and, consequently, the staff that they do have are over worked and stressed. To add insult to injury their work is impeded by actions of management and their morale is undermined by silly and mean "savings" - not paying hard working staff for their break times, not maintaining equipment and infra structure thus making work harder. There is inadequate parking available for patients who end up having to pay the full price for hospital parking - this could so easily be remedied, as in other departments, by issuing a "zero Cost" ticket to put in the machine on exit.
