"Not good!"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute)

What I liked

Once my dad have been admited to a ward ,the care that was provided was great.

What could be improved

Definetley the staff must be reviewed as its not fully competent. On addmitance in september to A&E i had noticed that the personnel spend at least 3 hours on chating about theres purchases ,birthday gifts etc.I felt like i was in the club.

.

Anything else?

In january my father visited A&E with pain in the right side of his back and the presence of blood in the urine.Test's were carried out,Xray taken ,and after some hours dad was sent home and told that he will be informed of the date by post for a Ct scan.If pain come back then he need to come back.

He underwent the Ct scan and never heard results for next 7 months. In september he had the same sympthoms so i have taken him to A&E again. He was admitted to ward this time. After 3 days of presence in the ward he was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer which had spread to lungs.

We then decided to ask doctors about previous scan in february and they confirmed that changes were visiblle then.Scan never come to see a daylight.

Radiologist never fed report further, consultant who reffered for the scan never asked for report of it,and the ment to be a summary discharge sent to Gp so he knows as well and this not happened too.

This is just a quick overview of Performance and Service that NGH had provided during january and september.
