After a large number of doctors visits at my Gp surgery for my little lad who has been displaying abnormal spells of behaviours, obsessive compulsive and hyperactive episodes in which his and our day to day life's are extremely disrupted and he frequently puts his self at risk as he is accident prone and hits out, throwing object etc. As he cannot see everyday dangers, we were referred to the CAHMS service now 4 times and counting, only to be offered parenting classes for a child who clearly needs help and support/diagnosing. Therefore me and my partner asked to be referred to a pediatrician and got an appointment through only to have it canceled with no real explanation why and after again pouring out in tears to the gp only to told that pediatrician doesn't want to see him, which is completely shocking because if you spent 30 minutes with him health professional or not, you would see he suffers really bad from some for of autism, which thanks to the lack of care from the CAHMS service and the pediatrics at Royal stoke hospital is getting progressively worse. What upsets me even more I have a sibling in my home town of Manchester who suffers with aspergers and he received second to none care from the hospital In manchester and my parents and he still get support now from real professionals who are willing to go above and beyond for him and his family. Unlike the pediatrics at Royal stoke and the CAHMS service for the area, clearly shows its a post code lottery and that the mental health service for children in Stoke on trent is not fit for purpose and needs serious investigating and it has been that upsetting for myself and my partner we are considering moving to Manchester to get the help that our son deserves, there's nothing worse than health care professionals who don't seen to care because at the end of the day that's our son.
