From the moment I contacted the Mid Argyll Maternity Unit I felt totally supported. I had various worries about this pregnancy and moreover about the birth given my age and number of children, however throughout I felt listened to and reassured. My midwife Karen had been my midwife with my other children and so I felt that she totally understood my journey. She went out of her way to make sure that I remained positive and calm; on 2 occasions she even met me on her days off to do relaxation with me. She was always on the end of the phone if I needed help.
I chose to have my baby in Paisley because my previous babies were posterior and my labours were protracted. The consultant organised for me to be induced at 39 weeks. Karen arranged to come down to Paisley for the birth and she helped deliver my baby into the world. The fact that my midwife was with me and that there was a continuity of care was fantastic. I was so grateful to the whole team who are so friendly and positive.
