I recently attended the surgery with a sore shoulder - struggled with it for a couple of months and tried to self medicate with voltarol and pain killers. I also had some quite severe digestive issues, which I was terrified was bowel cancer. The Nurse practitioner quickly put me at ease and organised for tests to be carried out to get to the bottom of the problem. I had my first blood test done that day & stool sample sent off. Result back - no bowel cancer, but my blood test inconclusive, so it was redone to confirm diagnosis.
The following week my result confirmed I had Hypothyroidism and prescription ready for me to collect that day.
The whole process was explained, especially that it's not a quick fix to get the medication right.
I really can't fault the service, however I would like to be able to book an appointment. Open surgery isn't always convenient for my lifestyle.
Everybody at the surgery are always helpful & friendly, whether it's the reception girls, the nurses stealing my blood or the nurse practitioner ! They do a marvellous job.
I don't generally tend to bother my GP as I've always found exceptional service with the Nurse Practitioner.
