Im 31 weeks pregnant and attending midwife appointments at Midwives House. My overall experience to date has been very mixed, the service at the Harris Birthright Centre has generally been excellent. The staff were very professional, attentive and caring. Sadly i cant say the same about Midwives House. Whilst i understand its a stretched NHS service, and they are short of staff, my pre-booked appointments have always been delayed (often waiting between 20-50 minutes), i have been left with severe bruising on my arms when they have taken my bloods, but never had this problem when bloods were taken at Harris Birthright Centre. I have never seen the same midwife twice, which means i can't build any trust or rapport and most (except 2) of the midwives seem quite unhappy in their job. I often feel like they are going through the motions and im just another name (rather than a human being) on their list of people to see. I have been told they are short of staff, which is clearly having a knock on effect on the quality of service that is delivered. Kings, this really needs to be looked into and sufficient bank staff is necessary to cover this shortage. Im quite disappointed that this has been my experience, especially as its my first pregnancy. I really hope that things improve.
"Very Mixed feelings, room for improvements"
