"Most doctors are outstanding!"

I have not been able to give a five out of five star review becaused I received very upsetting care from one doctor. So I want to be honest in my overall review however I have received outstanding care from several doctors at this surgery. After a mental health breakdown that I am just starting to see the light from, I suffered immensely both mentally and physically. I was seen by a doctor who has now left and more recently by another doctor for long periods of time. They served as life lines, at times of great distress and uncertainty. They also recognised my determination to beat my mental health issues and to work towards bettering myself rather than assuming I was not trying or had a 'weak personality' which has also sadly been my experience from less compassionate doctors. I want to be honest about this contrast to really show how good care makes all the difference. The doctor is always incredibly patient, compassionate and knowledgeable about mental health and also helps with making sure that your vitamins and diet are being looked at to support mental health. He has been an outstanding doctor who definitely helped me to feel I was treated with respect and autonomy rather than made to feel a burden which is so often how you are stigmatised when looking for help. I am very greatful for the support I received from certain, infact most of the doctors at Tynemouth, even in fleeting interactions with other doctors who I only met occasionally. I felt overall this is a very good practice. Sadly there was one doctor who had worryingly outdated and unempathetic views, so my advice to anyone feeling frustrated with their care to be open to seeing other doctors at this surgery because the majority are very informed, measured and compassionate. Overall I can only give four stars but under the care of the majority of doctors here it's certainly five stars. The receptionists overall are also very patient, attentive and caring. The staff must have a great deal to contend with. Many thanks for your support.
