"availability of appointments"

About: Wensum Valley Medical Practice

I can never get an appointment in less than 2 weeks from the time I do get through. If there are no appointments they just tell you to go to the walk-in center, which is not possible with a wheelchair-bound person.

Some of the reception staff are very abrupt with their responses and have no empathy.

Dear Sir or Madam

I am very sorry that you are unable to get an appointment and that you find our staff abrupt and with no empathy.

We do offer a significant number of same day appointments everyday.

Our next routine appointment is on Friday 7th of September.

We offer on average around 1000 appointments per week, out of which, approx. 33 patients do not attend their appointment which works out at 5.5 hours worth of wasted appointments every single week.

I do understand the difficulty in getting to the Walk in Centre with a wheelchair-bound person and realise that this isn't always possible.

If the problem is one which requires an appointment on the day, please explain to our receptionists the difficulties you have and I am sure that they will do their utmost to accommodate you.

Meanwhile if you would like to discuss anything further or would like to join our Patient Participation Group, please do not hesitate in getting in contact with me.

Kind regards

Jan Hardinge

Practice Manager
