"Mum's care in Kirkcaldy"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service Victoria Hospital / Medical High Dependency

(as a relative),

My mum was admitted urgently to the Victoria Hospital after a fall while she was feeding her dogs. Her legs gave way  as a result of a stroke, the paramedics who tended to her were excellent. I know one was called Dave, he called me to tell me they had been called out to my Mum and made sure I knew she was in good hands and  on her way to the hospital. As I live quite a long way from my mum whilst it was a scary shock that mum had had a stroke it was reassuring to hear from Dave that she was being cared for.

At the hospital she was taken straight to ITU where she was looked after extremely well for several days. Mum was then moved to a high dependency stroke ward where she is still being looked after by the CN Tracy and SNs Jillian, Amanda and Mike. They have taken great care of my mum, and are always ready to give me an update on my mum's condition whenever I  call.

Whatever the hospital's policy is on visiting I'm very grateful that they allowed me to see my mum late in the evening as soon as I was able to get to Kirkcaldy with the earliest flight options available to me. All the staff are angels, I am so grateful to them for looking after my mum.

Hello uniformyz49,

Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience recently.I am glad that we could make what was a difficult time a bit easier by being flexible in the visiting times.I hope that your mum is continuing to improve and will pass on your message to the staff.

Dear uniformyz49,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am sorry to hear that your mother has had to go through that. It must have been terrifying for her and for you. I do hope that she is making a full recovery.

I am very glad to hear that our staff made such a positive impression and looked after your mother so well along with all the staff in Kirkcaldy.

If you would like, I can try and pass your kind words onto the crew. In order to do this I will require your mothers name and the date time and address the ambulance responded too. You can contact me if you wish this to happen at scotamb.feedback@nhs.net. If you could also quote your careopinion username that would be very helpful.

I wish you and your mother all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
