Not only did I receive the very best treatment modern technology has to offer, performed by a team of the cleverest and skilled people on the planet I was also treated with such respect and compassion by every single soul I encountered from start to finish.
Having finally decided my chest pain just might not be indigestion I was visited by an amazing pair of paramedics who took me, by ambulance to Cramlington. I was diagnosed as having had a coronary, taken to The Freeman and stented the very next day. Every step of the way it was explained to me what was happening and why.
Everybody I met introduced themselves and treated me with respect and compassion. I never felt alarmed or alone or ignored. I am home now, feel absolutely 100% well and I just want to say a big thank you to the staff at both hospitals, all of you from the guys who taxied me around to the girls who brought me a cup of tea to the porters, the amazing nurses to the lab technicians and the doctors and admin guys - you all should feel so proud to be part of an absolutely first class team, delivering care to us fortunate enough to live in this part of the country. I was only in hospital for two nights, had two very good night's of sleep and all the ladies on Ward 27 agreed that we were so, so fortunate to be there.
"So grateful, so impressed and so proud."
