What I liked
Every time I have visited the hospital I have been stuck by how helpful and friendly every member of staff I encountered has been. Despite being very busy due to Christmas ward closures and shorter numbers of staff, everyone was very friendly and answered my questions. I know that my mother and sister appreciated this as I spent longer then expected in recovery after my surgery and were unsure of where I was going afterwards.
My surgeon allowed me to express my opinion on the positioning of scars for my surgery in my consultation and on the morning of my admission I was asked if I wanted to change my mind. Other surgeons I had consulted with about this surgery hadn't allowed me to offer my opinion about preferred technique.
When a slight complication arose (I had a fast pulse after surgery), I was well looked after and was kept well-informed about possible reasons behind it and treatment to help lower my pulse.
What could be improved
The food, despite mentioning that I was a vegan before admission there was no food that I could specifically eat. It wasn't too bad as I could eat parts of some vegetarian meals but it would have been nice to have known there was something I could definitely eat rather then hoping something would be suitable.
"Friendly staff and a pleasant environment, shame..."
