About: Royal Oldham Hospital

What I liked

nothing it was a very distressing, demoralising experience and i would like to complain

What could be improved

i had an asthma attack on 20/12/11 and called an ambulance. something i rarely do. the paramedics that visited checked my oyxgen levels and said they were a hundred percent . they said they thought in was having a panic attack. i didnt agree , i have had asthma my whole life and am on daily inhalers. i was too ill to speak much. they didnt even put me on a nebuliser. my inhaler wasnt working and my peak flow was low. i wasnt given any treatment and their attitude was discusting. the lady in particular made irrelevants and assumptions such as 'have you had an argument with your boyfriend'. she then said i have been watching you and you just held your breath in. she spoke to me as if she thought i was putting it on. this was very distressing what they said to me and didnt give me any treatment, on arrival they told the triage nurse they thought it was anxiety. she then treated me as a low priority. i had to wait 3 hours in a busy waiting room when i was struggling to breathe. when i finally saw a doctor my symptoms had improved. the doctor didnt know if it was asthma/ stress or a chest infection. she gave me antibiotics

this experience has totally put me off accessing help. this is risky as asthma is a dangerous condition. i felt i was inappropriately judged and not treated with respect or given a nebuliser. i would like to compliain. i never want to be in this situation again
