"End of Life Care"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

My mother was admitted after an angioplasty and stent procedure at Leeds GI and transferred to Pinderfields within 9 hours. Even though the procedure was successful, she contracted Pneumonia from which she didn't survive. My family and I wish to thank all the staff on Gate 31 for their care and support throughout my mother's End of Life time on the ward. Certain nurses and staff where outstanding in their compassion and support in my mother's last few days but a few did fail. This is not a complaint but a problem that can be resolved with good leadership and direction. Other staff in the Bereavement Office and the Deputy Registrar were excellent in their professionalism and compassion at a difficult time. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and I would like to offer my sincere condolences to you and your family for your sad loss.

I will ensure your kind words are passed onto the team and will raise with the Ward Manager that some staff were not as compassionate as they could have been.

It is important that this is addressed with the wider team to prevent a reoccurrence.
