"A&E"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital / Accident and emergency

I want to say how impressed I was with A&E as a recipient on Monday evening (13th August).

I was seen within a reasonable time and totally accept that the triage system has to work for those more urgent than myself.

I was given every courtesy but more than that I was treated as if the symptoms were serious and needing checking out.

I have never attended A&E as opposed to my GP before but having tried to get an appointment urgently as being in pain and feeling very unwell I resorted to going to A&E.

I could not wait until the next day to be triaged by them and the next appointment was 10 days time.

I could walk or stand straight due to the discomfort I felt and so went to RHCH

I had every test to see that it was nothing untoward and reassured that it was a bug.

At no point did the staff make me feel a nuisance or making a fuss and for this I felt grateful.

I know I was not high priority but having spent a very painful night and day without being able to resolve the pain their care and attention was second to none.

The NHS does not get many bouquets as we hear of so many things that are not happening but not in my case their 5 star rating is well deserved.

Well done and thanks.
