My 92 year old mother has been under the Eye Centre's intermittent care for much of the last 10 years or so. Her most recent visit involved tests by ophthalmology, followed by further tests by an optician to determine her new prescription, with the added complication of needing an additional prism in the right lens to correct double vision. I have nothing but the utmost praise for the professional and considerate manner displayed by both the ophthalmologist and optician. At 92 years old, these sessions can be tiring for her and, accompanied by her anxiety that she isn't responding correctly, can be extremely challenging. In particular, the optician's encouragement, patience and understanding was exemplary, especially as this was the second consultation that morning and her stamina was waning by this time! This probably reflected the extent of his experience in the role. And when he stepped out of his consulting room to bid us a cheery 'goodbye' as we made our way down the corridor towards the exit, it properly made her day! So a huge thank you to all involved from mam and all the family.
