I had my first baby at Medway Hospital last week. A potential complication was spotted at the anomaly scan and I was closely monitored until the decision was made to induce me at 36 weeks due to a problem with the placenta.
At first everything was going smoothly but after 16 hours of labour my baby became distressed and I was transferred to theatre for an emergency c section.
As my baby was born early and was very small, the sucking reflex hadn't fully developed and he struggled to feed. I was extremely worried and stressed that he couldn't eat, but I received such fantastic support from the midwives and maternity support workers and they helped me get through the first difficult days. I'm happy to say my baby is now doing really well.
Every step of the way I felt that I was getting the best possible care and was being well looked after. I'd like to thank all of the wonderful staff that dealt with me at the scans, Pearl Ward, the Delivery Suite, the operating theatre and Kent Ward. I'd definitely recommend the maternity services at Medway to others.
"Excellent care"
