"Breast Cancer Detection"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Breast Clinic

(as a relative),

My mother presented at Wishaw General Breast Clinic (Clinic of DrLannigan) with a small lump which turned out to be of no concern. However, during one of her appointments she was seen by Dr MacBain who not only had the most genuine caring and professional manner she also detected an area that concerned her but had been of no concern to my mother.

This turned out to be cancerous and due to her quick detection, her appropriate referrals and intervention of Dr Lannigan, my mother was given an excellent prompt service in terms of  x rays, scans etc which resulted in her being prescribed a drug which to date seems to be having a very positive effect.

I cannot thank Drs Lannigan and MacBain enough for their professionalism and their such kind, caring manner. Although I cannot personally name the other members of staff I would also like to commend all of the staff that assisted including the nurses and the lovely receptionist.

There is no doubt they made what was a stressful time, that bit easier. I am aware of the bad press that the NHS receive however this department should be commended as I really cannot fault the manner in which my mother and I were treated and would like our sincere thanks to be conveyed to them.

Dear JBS,

I am sorry to learn of your mum's diagnosis of breast cancer and the associated stress that this brings. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experiences and with us. I will ensure that your feedback is shared with Mrs Lannigan, Dr McBain and the team, including the receptionist a member of the team often forgotten about but so important.

It is important for us to receive feedback from the perspective of patients and their families as this highlights what is important to you and what matters to you when you come to clinic and our services.

I hope your mum is keeping well.

thank you

Mhairi
