"Positive feedback/experience maternity unit"

My girlfriend and I were expecting. We went for a scan and were advised that she would need inducing. The staff at the scans were very friendly and caring and did everything to put my girlfriend at ease. We were booked in for her to be induced. We arrived and were shown the room very quickly and the were greeted by friendly staff. Everything was explained with how things worked and nothing was an issue for them. If we needed something then the staff were happy to try and accommodate.

My girlfriend was then taken to the delivery suite on Saturday and had a brilliant midwife. Once we arrived we were given tea and toast.

My girlfriend is also a midwife so she knew the ins and out of labour which helped.

After a long day she needed a c section. Again the staff were fantastic and my girlfriend was getting anxious, but the staff put her at ease. We talked about normal stuff and talked about work. Finally our daughter was born at 18:08 on the 18/08/18. We went to recovery and the two midwives looked after her until she went to the ward. Unfortunately on Sunday she had a panic attack and got a bit stressed. Everyone ran around looking after her, trying to calm her down, reassure her that everything was ok. Even when people left to go about their business they came back to see if she was ok. They even looked after me by making me a cup of tea and getting me a sandwich.

She was seen by the mental health team who I couldn’t fault. They sat with her and listened to her and helped her through a difficult time. It was all put down the stress and tiredness as she hasn’t slept for days.

The wards are clean and everyone called each other by first names. it felt like we’d known them for ages. They deserve a medal.
