I was due to see an ENT consultant at QA today at 1045 hrs , I got a message via my wife at approximately 0930 hrs that this appointment had been cancelled . I do understand things happen and appointments sometimes have to be changed or cancelled , but this appointment was re-scheduled from a previous appointment on the 19/6/18 that ENT also cancelled at short notice and therefore this additional short notice cancellation was extremely frustrating.
I have a serious and complicated condition and consultants from 2 other departments are waiting for me to be seen and further assessed by ENT . I have now been waiting since March for an appointment . I telephoned the outpatient booking service today to try and explain the situation and try and obtain a rescheduled appointment ASAP . I was then told the 23/10/18 was the earliest, so this will mean 7 months waiting since my last appointment.
I only knew my appointment in June was cancelled when I received a text to ' remind me' it had been cancelled a few days before it was due , I had no knowledge of it being cancelled until that point and a letter followed a day or 2 later confirming but with no explanation .
As patients we are warned about the cost and importance of not missing appointments but the same consideration does not appear to be offered the other way .
I have read the response to other reviews so have emailed
PALS accordingly
