Me and my wife attended an additional doppler appointment for a twin pregnancy at Greenoaks, arriving at 11.45am for a 11.50am appointment.
We appreciate the consultant fitted us in today to see us, however we still felt the excessive wait (we didn't leave until around 2.20pm) was unnecessary. Twin pregnancies, I am informed, are seen as high risk so I believe there should be a process so that they are seen slightly quicker. Incidentally, the wait came to see the consultant who was carrying out the scan on this occasion.
We weren't aware prior to the appointment that another Dr would be present and conducting the examination. During it, it was clear this Dr was not fully comfortable with the machine thus the consultant said he was learning how to adjust to this new machine and subsequently, my wife felt some of the prodding was a tad strong but more important, not painful.
This led to a few occasions where the Dr undertaking the scans had to go back and take more scans, and we feel this may have given undue duress for our children.
I can understand it was an appointment scheduled with difficulty however I do believe a scanographer should be present which would then make the experience quicker, comfortable and reassuring.
"Lack of a specialised scanographer and long wait"
