"Treated with kindness and compassion"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I was recently admitted briefly with a bleed and from start to finish I was treated with nothing but the utmost kindness and compassion. From the two gentleman paramedics who helped keep my spirits up to the lovely nurse and student who attended to my personal care in A& E (something I struggled with as I’m a nurse myself and extremely bashful in the presence of fellow nurses! ), to the porter who to me up to ward 309 to every single member of the ward 309 team, medical, nursing and domestic. A special thanks must be given to staff nurse Megan and to the funny nurse on day shift who’s name I can’t remember who really helped me feel like a human being again. I still have a long journey and big surgery to get through in the future but every person I met is a true credit to our amazing NHS!

Dear Meedawz

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience both within the A & E department and ward 309.

I am so pleased to hear that the staff who attended to you did so in a manner that made you feel human again.
Appreciating that it is difficult when you are a nurse and require care from your fellow colleagues but glad your received the level of care you required, at what sounds like a very difficult time.

I hope the surgery that you have mentioned goes well.

With very best wishes

Kind regards

Fiona Robertson Chief Nurse

Dear Meedawz,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share about your experience on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to hear that you have had to be admitted and are awaiting a big surgery. Please let me wish you all the best and I hope it all goes smoothly.

It is so nice to hear that everyone from our crew to all the staff in the hospital made such a great impression on you. I am very glad to hear that our two gentleman paramedics treated you in the manner they did and kept your spirits up.

If you would like I can pass on your kind words to the staff at the Scottish Ambulance Service. If you would like this, can you email scotamb.feedback@nhs.net. I will require the date, time and address that we attended and your name. (Could you also reference your CareOpinion name so I can tie it back to this post).

I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
