What I liked
The friendliness of the staff and their commitment to care was very good, even if I did get a little of the taking the micky as to how I sustained my injuries...I fell over my cat whilst sober!! :-)
The health care teams worked well together both A&E and Oral Maxillo Facial. The extent of my injuries and the procedure required to fix them was explained in great depth so that I have a full understanding of what damage I have done to the bones and how this will be rectified. I was also shown the X-Ray and CT scan images of my injuries, this is something which I have never been shown before in the past, and felt that I was fully involved in the treatment of my injuries.
The time spent in A&E was minimal being approximately 2.5 hours from booking in to discharge to both Fracture clinic and Oral Maxillo Facial clinic, the longest wait time in A&E was for the results of the CT scan to come through.
What could be improved
Clinic appointment booking. I was given an appointment for the following afternoon to attend Oral Maxillo Facial clinic. I received a phonee call after I got back to say that there would be no doctor available for that clinic and could I attend in the morning.
Anything else?
Hoping that I will have a similar good experience next week when I come in for my operation.
"Very good experience overall."
