"Confused, worried, possibly forgotten and getting..."

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

What I liked

I have been treated for a variety of ailments over the years and I have mostly been very happy with my treatment - which makes this episode all the more surprising.

What could be improved

In September 2011, as a result of a biopsy taken in August, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Since I had a PSA of 16 five years ago this did not come as a surprise, the only surprise was the time taken to get the diagnosis. I was asked to have a repeat MRI scan so that the MDT could be absolutely certain which treatment choixces to offer me. This was duly carried out in October and I had another outpatients appointment in early November to find out what would be recommended. Unfortunately, a few days prior to the appointment I was admitted to the hospital with acute pancreatitis - but nevertheless I attended the outpatients appointment anyway as it was so important.

Instead of being given my treatment options though, I was told to go away and get over the pancreatitis first before I worried about having cancer. Possibly the fact that the Consultant was not in clinic had some bearing on this ?

This was five weeks ago and I have heard nothin from the hospital since. So I've had a cancer diagnosis for three months now and I still don't have a treatment plan of any kind, nor any appointment to be given one. I'm now starting to feel rather depressed and despondent because I feel I've been forgotten. And I am starting to get very angry with the whole saga !

Five weeks ? Three months ? Hello .......... Is there anybody out there that knowa what they're doing ?

Anything else?

Can I just emphasise that this is a cancer diagnosis we are talking about, and not something trivial.

I'd also like to say that my pancreatitis treatment was excellent, a big thank you to all the doctors and the nursing team on Ward 20.
