My first appointment with the consultant was in November 2011 at which all staff who dealt with me were efficient, friendly and helpful.
The consultant was particularly reassuring but he decided to perform a sigmoidoscopy at a later date.
The second appointment was a pre-assessment in early December when a staff nurse talked me through what the procedure involved. At this point I was given some misinformation about gas and air being available to help control the pain. In other respects this appointment was beneficial as I had questions to ask and I was becoming quite nervous, so this helped to quell some of my nerves.
Finally the procedure was carried out a few days later, again all members of staff, from the nurse who held my hand trying to help me cope, to the recovery room staff, were all kind and understanding. The consultant was particularly caring and, as the result was very good news, he was able to put my mind at rest.
I would like to thank everyone concerned.
